Pierce County and the Anderson Island Citizens' Advisory Board (AICAB) announced in November 2016 that the ad hoc Pierce County Ferry Committee will no longer meet. Instead, AICAB will serve as the body that discusses ferry issues. Read a letter about the change from AICAB to the Pierce County Executive and Council here.
This change will bring many benefits to the community. Public input will be increased as discussion of ferry topics will occur at AICAB meetings, which are more accessible to the island community.
The formal process through which AICAB recommendations are made to the Pierce County Council and the Pierce County Executive will lend credibility to ideas brought forward on ferry issues.
Pierce County will continue to implement its communication and public outreach plan to share
important information and create other avenues for collecting public comments about the ferry service.
The Pierce County Ferry Committee was formed to collaboratively address ferry system operations and the suggestions and concerns of Ketron Island and Anderson Island residents. This committee was not an officially chartered Pierce County Board or Commission.
