Help shape its future.

Pierce County Parks and Recreation held an ‘online open house’ in 2016 to gather public input and understand needed improvements and priorities at the park.  The April 27th Open House was a follow up to hear more from the community and to capture projects for the 2018-2023 budget.

GOAL: Improve visitor experience at Lake Tapps County Park by:

  • Improving parking and circulation
Parking is currently limited at Lake Tapps Park creating numerous conflicts on county roads and for local residents.  Before new activities are added to the park, additional parking must be constructed and traffic conflicts need to be addressed.
  • Expanding activities throughout the park
Providing more activities such as playgrounds, a splash park or beach volleyball, will create a variety of family gathering or recreational activities while enjoying the waterfront or forested areas.
  • Expanding access to the water
Among the greatest assets at Lake Tapps Park is the shoreline access and the views. Most people visiting Lake Tapps come to simply enjoy time near the water.  A goal of this effort is to consider ways to open waterfront to more visitors
