Wishing you a happy holiday season in the 1st District!
Here at the County Council, we've just finished passing the County budget for 2016 and there are a number of good provisions in it that will improve public safety, help to complete some of the County's unfinished trails and parks and we were able to prevent some drastic fee increase proposals. Overall, it's a good, sustainable budget for Pierce County's citizens and I was proud to support it.
Below you'll find a number of great holiday activities both in our district and around the county. I hope you can find time to enjoy one with your family.
Council Meeting in Buckley Oct. 20
Every year, each Pierce County Councilmember must hold a Council meeting in the
evening within their district boundary. This year, my meeting will be held tomorrow night
(Oct. 20th) at 5:00 pm in the Buckley Multipurpose Center, 811 Main St. in Buckley (click
here to read the resolution about tomorrow's meeting).
Please join me for a public safety meeting May 11
In the coming weeks, South Sound 911 will be evaluating a “preferred” building site at 2119 Mildred St. W. in Fircrest and will be hosting a series of public meetings in each of the County Council districts, where South Sound 911 Executive Director Andrew Neiditz will speak about the project. The 1st District meeting is being held Monday, May 11, at 6 p.m. in the Bonney Lake Public Safety Building training room located at 18421 Veterans Memorial Dr. in Bonney Lake.
We need your help to review our charter
The Charter Review Commission is seeking candidates to serve on the board. Here is your opportunity to update and make improvements to the Pierce County Charter. A total of 21 Charter Review Commissioners positions to be elected, three elected from each of the seven County Council districts. Positions will be numbered 1, 2, and 3 from each district.
