Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment PlantChambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) uses a combination of physical and biological treatment processes to treat residential and commercial wastewater and sewage.

Wastewater PipesWWTP Service Area
Our service area includes the cities of Lakewood, University Place and Dupont, the Town of Steilacoom and unincorporated areas of Pierce County in Midland, Parkland, Spanaway, South Hill and the Frederickson industrial area.

Disposal of Liquids
Liquids from incoming wastewater are separated from solids at the plant. After extensive treatment the liquids are discharged to Puget Sound in accordance with strict standards specified in the the county's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.

Disposal of Solids
The nutrient-rich solids, known as biosolids, are refined into a dry pelletized fertilizer. The fertilizer is commercially sold as SoundGRO for residential or commercial applications anywhere chemical-based fertilizers are used. SoundGRO meets Environmental Protection Agency standards for their 'Exceptional Quality' Class A biosolids product. Some solids, including grease, are disposed of at a sanitary landfill.
