What We Do
Capital Improvement Program staff is committed to improving the stormwater infrastructure that helps reduce destructive flooding, improving water quality, and preserving and restoring fish and wildlife habitat.

Additional Responsibilities
Surface Water Management is responsible for researching the flooding concerns of the people and for choosing projects for construction that will provide the greatest public benefit. All environmental issues, the public infrastructure affected and the overall cost of the project are thoroughly researched and considered.

Improvements in Infrastructure
Over the last 20 years, significant stormwater infrastructure have been built to reduce the impacts associated with flooding. These improvements, together with better development regulations which stop new problems from being created, have made our community more resistant to Pacific Northwest storms.
