How Do I
Civil Division

The Civil Division seeks to provide accurate and timely legal advice to county officials and to represent the county's interests in court. Deputy prosecutors in the Civil Division have extensive experience concerning the many constitutional, statutory and administrative provisions and court decisions which apply to governmental activities.
Defending & Protecting the County
Defending the county when sued, and filing suits for the countywhen necessary, our litigators have appeared in many venues, from local courts through the United States Supreme Court. Using staff attorneys in litigation develops expertise in governmental issues and is significantly more economical than hiring private counsel. The Civil Division evaluates cases fairly, negotiates where appropriate and litigates when necessary, thereby protecting scarce public resources.

The Civil Division is at heart a service organization. By providing sound legal advice to help county leaders perform their duties, we serve the public through the practice of law.
