Homicide Unit
The Homicide Unit prosecutes the majority of homicide cases that occur in Pierce County. Homicide cases are time intensive and require considerably more resources then many other types of felony crimes. The deputy prosecutors assigned to this unit are experienced prosecutors who are accustomed to complex cases, forensic analysis, autopsies, ballistics, and DNA evidence.

The deputy prosecutors have years of experience prosecuting and investigating serious crimes in our county and are committed to representing our community against the most dangerous criminals.

Over 100 Cases Handled in 2011
The Homicide Unit handled more than 100 cases in 2011, including the case of State of Washington vs. Dorcus Allen, the getaway driver for Maurice Clemmons. On November 29, 2009, Clemmons entered a Forza Coffee shop in Parkland and gunned down four Lakewood Police Officers. On May 19, 2011, a jury convicted Dorcus Allen of four counts of Murder in the First Degree for his involvement in the shooting deaths of the four officers. Allen was sentenced to 420 years in prison.
