Misdemeanor Crimes
The Criminal Division prosecutes felonies committed by adults in Pierce County, all crimes committed by juveniles within the county, and misdemeanor offenses committed in unincorporated Pierce County and the incorporated cities of Edgewood and Dupont.

Misdemeanor Unit
The Misdemeanor Unit is responsible for prosecuting all gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor offenses committed in unincorporated Pierce County and the incorporated cities of Edgewood and Dupont. Domestic Violence and Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUI) are the two primary areas of prosecution in the Misdemeanor Unit.

In October of 2012, the Misdemeanor Division was awarded a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission to help prosecute all DUI cases, including those generated by Target Zero, a statewide strategic plan. The goal of the plan is to increase
Murder Gangs Robbery, Assault & Arson
Identity Theft & Financial Elder Abuse Property Crimes & Animal Cruelty Special Assault
Drug & Vice Vehicular Homicide & Assault  Appeals
Fugitive & Extraditions Juvenile Misdemeanor
education, enforcement and collaboration among agencies in order to achieve zero traffic deaths and serious injuries on Washington roads by 2030.
