The Auditor’s Animal Control Division provides a 24-hour public safety response to dangerous and roaming animals, as well as animal injury, abuse, and neglect. We are dedicated to promoting and protecting the health, safety and welfare of people and pets in unincorporated Pierce County.

Six Animal Control Officers (ACOs), with limited commission through the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, perform investigations, enforce laws, and educate the public about animal welfare, restraint, and licensing.

The ACOs are supported by a Supervisor and a full-time dispatcher. The Division receives over 10,000 calls each year and ACOs are dispatched to 5,000 calls in a 1,600 square-mile area.
