About the Program
Pierce County's One Percent for Art ordinance directs publicly-funded construction projects, with costs exceeding $100,000, to allocate one percent of the project budget for public art.

This program supports our mission to increase access to the arts for all Pierce County residents through a lasting legacy of publicly held artwork.

Call to Artists
The Pierce County Arts Commission has issued an RFP for an art project:

County City Building West Entry Canopy Handrail System Project
Pierce County has improved the west entrance of the County-City building, a building visited by thousands of people each year. The final phase of the entrance was the construction of a canopy to protect visitors from the weather as they enter the building. With 1% for Arts funding, the Pierce County Arts Commission is seeking qualified metal artists to add aesthetic elements to the handrail system.

If interested, please refer to RFP 1751 on the Purchasing Department's Current Bids and RFP webpage and submit a proposal by September 16, 2016.
