The Crystal Judson Family Justice Center accepts applications for volunteers on an as-needed basis. To apply, complete the package from the link above and return it, along with a copy of your driver's license, to:

The FJC is currently recruiting for volunteers.




Volunteers working at the Family Justice Center must agree to the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age


  • Agree to work at least 16 hours per month


  • Agree to a one (1) year commitment at the FJC


  • Attend an Orientation Meeting


  • Agree to be interviewed


  • Complete the background process


  • Complete the 30-hour domestic violence training


  • Agree to follow the policies, procedures and operations manual for the FJC

The Family Justice Center recognizes and appreciates that many survivors of domestic violence wish to give something back by volunteering in this area. We welcome all applications. However, for the health and safety of our volunteers, clients and staff, we ask that anyone wishing to volunteer ve out of a violent relationship for at least two years.



Each volunteer for the FJC will be required to complete an interview process. The process is designed to cover the following areas:

  • Previous work/volunteer experience

  • Review of volunteer application

  • Volunteer position preference

  • Availability of work days and shifts

  • Suitability for the position

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision



All volunteers for the FJC will be required to successfully complete the background investigation process. The background investigation process is designed to ensure the quality of the individuals selected to performs as volunteers. The process will include the following:

  • Complete the background packet

  • Background investigators interview

  • Washington State Patrol background check

  • Reference check



Each volunteer agrees to participate in a 30-hour domestic violence training. In addition, each volunteer must undergo an orientation meeting on FJC-specific issues. The orientation meeting provides the following information:

  • History of the FJC

  • Services provided to clients

  • Expectation of volunteers

  • Available volunteer positions

  • Site tour

  • On-site staff introduction

  • Volunteer positions




Hospitality Specialist:

Bring a level of comfort and safety into the waiting area and children's playroom while keeping the mood light. Offer food and beverages to the clients while the receive services.


Childrens Playroom Supervisor:

Supervise children while parents are receiving services. Provide a sense of calm and security for children. Do not leave children unaccompanied in the play room while under your supervision. Only parents will escort children to the rest room.


Reception Assistant:

Responsible for assisting the receptionist. This may include assisting with client reception, answering the FJC business phone line, or helping with other tasks as needed.


Special Events Assistant:

Assist in setting up conference room or other areas for special events. Provide assistance with facility tours, provide support/assistance at FJC functions. Do you have a special talent that could benefit the FJC?
