MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Aging and Disabilty Resources is to ensure that Pierce County residents have available a range of community-based services that allow older adults and adults with disabilities to remain at home as long as possible, while promoting dignity and maximizing individual choice, wherever they reside.

VISION STATEMENT

ADR seeks to create and sustain livable communities for people of all ages throughout Pierce County by better serving older adults and adults with disabilities and by enhancing the capacity of communities to support people of all ages.

WHO WE ARE

Pierce County Aging and Disability Resources (ADR) is one of thirteen designated Area Agencies on Aging in Washington State.

It is our job to speak for the rights of elders, and to plan and manage long-term care programs that help older and disabled people to remain secure and independent.

WHAT IS LONG-TERM CARE?

Long-term care services provide needed help when disability or illness makes it difficult to meet all of your own care needs.

The help is provided by several agencies working together, to make sure you receive the services you need.

Besides Pierce County Aging and Disability Resources, the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and other local agencies are involved in providing long-term care services.

SERVICES WE PROVIDE

  • ADRC - Aging & Disability Resource Center (formerly Senior Information and Assistance) Provides information and helps connect you to community services for older adults.
  • Case Management - Helps you get the services you need to remain independent and in your home. Nurses are also available to review your health needs and teach your in-home care aide how to best meet those needs.
  • Family Caregiver Support - Provides services to help unpaid caregivers caring for aging parents, ailing spouses, partners, disabled adult children, or friends suffering from a debilitating illness.
  • Long-Term Care Ombudsman - Serves as voices for long-term care residents, look into complaints, and help solve problems.

WHAT WE DO FOR YOU

  • We review your service needs and eligibility with you.
  • We help you make informed choices and access services.
  • We help you develop a plan that addresses your health, housing, and safety needs.
  • We regularly review your situation and help you make changes to the plan as needed.
