In Washington State, the Congressional Districts are created by the Washington State Redistricting Commission.
How many Congressional Districts are there?
There are 435 congressional districts across the country. Ten districts have been apportioned to Washington State. This is an increase of one seat in congress from the 2000 census. Pierce County is currently made up of parts of three congressional districts (6, 8 and 9).

How is the Pierce County Districting Committee selected?
The Democratic and Republican central committee submits a list of five persons each to serve on the committee. The council appoints two members from each party.
