A CHDO is a non profit 501(C) organization that has as a mission of low income housing development. A CHDO must meet certain criteria relating to Board composition, experience, development capacity, and legal status. All CHDOs are certified as qualified under HUD guidelines by Pierce County. CHDOs are eligible to apply annually or semi annually, depending on funds availability, to Pierce County for HOME Investment Parnership funding. Qualified CHDOs may own, develop or sponsor the development of permanent, or transitional low income affordable housing in Pierce County (outside of the City of Tacoma, and City of Lakewood boundaries).
