Emergency Operations Center
Welcome to the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management Webpage. It is our mission to create sustainable communities and enhance public safety by empowering all who work, govern, live in and visit Pierce County to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from all types of hazards, emergencies, and disasters.

The Department of Emergency Management is made up of five divisions:

  • Emergency Management
  • Enhanced 9-1-1
  • Fire Prevention Bureau
  • Radio Communications
  • Washington State Urban Search and Rescue Task Force (WATF-1)

EMAP
Pierce County Emergency Management has achieved accreditation through the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP).

Emergency Management Director Steve Bailey relayed a comment by one of the members of the accreditation committee as he shared the news with his staff. He said 'Pierce County, Washington is the new national standard on what a local Emergency Management Program should be,' and I couldn't be more proud to deliver this level of quality service to our residents.'
