The Security Management program enhances the delivery of County services by providing security programs and systems designed to reduce vulnerabilities and mitigate real world threats to the safety of the public, County staff and County property.

ID Badges .

Pierce County contractors, volunteers and partner agency employees based in County facilities must possess a County issued identification badge.

To obtain a badge, the sponsoring department security coordinator must submit a completed background check form, to:

Background checks are performed by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Contractors, vendors or non-employees seeking information on ID badges may contact the Facilities Management Administration offices during regular business hours.

County employees may contact their Security Coordinator through the Pierce County Intranet site.

Courthouse Security Procedures

Pierce County courthouses provide a safe and secure environment for the public and staff. Citizens who enter facilities housing Superior Courts, District Courts, Municipal Courts and Juvenile Courts are required to pass through security screening checkpoints.

Help keep your experience simple by arriving a few minutes early, prepared for the screening process, and by cooperating with security staff and law enforcement officer's requests and directions.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • I am a contractor who needs access to a secure County site. How long does it take to get an ID badge?
    Contractors, vendors and non-employees who work on-site in secure areas must submit a background check form. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department usually takes two weeks to perform necessary checks and clearances.
  • Can I fax or e-mail the completed background check form?
    No. Forms must submitted in person or through the U.S. mail.
  • I lost my badge. How can I get a new one?
    Report a lost or stolen badge immediately by calling (253) 798-7223.
  • Who do I contact with a question, comment or concern about security staff?
