District Court Administration Counter on Second Floor Pierce County District Court at the County-City Building
  • The Pierce County District Court Administration Office has relocated from Room 601 to Room 239 in the County-City Building, effective Friday, Dec. 2, 2011.
  • The District Court Civil/Infraction Division has moved from its former location at 1902 96th Street S. to the County-City Building.
  • All Pierce County District Court business will be conducted at the County-City Building in downtown Tacoma, effective January 3, 2012.
  • Please direct all District Court business to the following address:

  • District Court Probation will continue to be located at 901 Tacoma Avenue South, across the street from the County-City Building.
New District Court Courtroom on First Floor of CCB District Court Completes Move; Begins Operations in New Courtrooms
  • Pierce County District Court, which handles more than 175,000 cases a year, is saving taxpayer money by consolidating operations.
  • Effective Monday, Jan. 9, the court's traffic and civil calendars moved to newly renovated courtrooms on the first floor of the County-City Building.
  • District Court hears such issues as traffic infractions, criminal misdemeanors, civil damages under $75,000, name changes and anti-harassment protection orders. The court has 102 employees, including eight judges, and an annual budget of $12.2 million.

County Executive Pat McCarthy made the decision to close the Hosmer branch, which saves $300,000 a year in ongoing maintenance costs. The 14,700-square-foot building is listed for sale at $1.9 million.

Directions to District Court Civil / Infraction Division at County-City Building from District Court's previous location at 1902 96th St S (Hosmer):

1) Travel west on 96th St S and take an immediate right onto Hosmer St.
2.) In 1.4 miles turn left onto 72nd St and continue onto I-5 north.
3.) Take exit 133 toward I-705 N City Center and then keep right at the fork then stay left at the next fork.
4.) Take a right on South Stadium Way
5.) Turn left on to S 4th St.
6.) Turn left onto Tacoma Ave S 5 blocks and the County-City Building will be on your right.

Blue Lot Booth on Nollmeyer Lane Pierce County opened a second public pay lot at the County-City Building campus Thursday December 1st. The new lot is located at Yakima Avenue and Nollmeyer Lane.

The second public pay lot will help accommodate the expected increase in visitors to the County-City Building due to the District Court / Civil Infraction Division relocation from 96th and Hosmer at the end of December. See Map

Public pay lot information:

Green Lot: Entrance from 11th Street behind County-City Building

Blue Lot: Entrance From Nollmeyer Lane behind County-City Building

Operating Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Monday to Friday)

Both lots are staffed by an attendant and operated by Republic Parking.

September 28, 2011 Construction staging has begun on the second floor of the County-City Building. Demolition of the former LESA Records area begins Monday October 3rd. For public safety and to minimize disruptions to surrounding operations, demolition activities will take place after normal business hours.
September 21,2011 The LESA Service Counter in the County-City Building will be closed September 26-27 to accommodate the move across the street to the 945 Building. Service will resume on Wednesday, September 28th in the new location. See details

August 8, 2011 Construction has begun as of Monday August 8, 2011.

For public safety, a temporary construction fence has been installed at the exterior of the County-City Building on the south side of the Tacoma Avenue Entrance (see Plans & Drawings below).

In addition to the exterior fence, temporary wooden walls are being constructed in the County-City Building on the 1st floor in the public corridors for demolition activities.

PCTV Video Juror Assembly Room Upgrade The upgraded Jury Assembly area opens Monday November 28th.

The area boasts large screen monitors, softer, energy efficient lighting and plenty of natural light with a view to the adjacent sidewalk plaza.

Improved environmental controls allow staff to easily adjust heating and cooling for the comfort of different sized groups.
