You need to perform a criminial background check!

Hiring someone to provide in-home care?
Looking for help with home chores?

Criminal background checks are a critical part of hiring any in-home care provider. Do not rush through this process or assume a person is ''okay.'' People who seem nice have been found out to have very serious issues in their past.

  • Tip #1 - Set your expectations correctly
Do not expect to just make a phone call or two or sign onto the internet and have someones criminal report jump onto your hard drive. There are ways to get information about a person but it usually takes a little time.
  • Tip #2 - Get a Criminal Arrest Record
Understand that often times a person has lived in several cities or states. This often makes it difficult for you to access a complete and thorough background check because the records are possibly held in jurisdictions across the country. You will need to use a centralized database which not only maintains but updates their records on a daily basis.
  • Tip #3 - Access police records
You should be prepared to use the information that you receive appropriately. Chances are you are doing this kind of research for a reason. Prepare yourself for the fact that you could possibly get some very disturbing information and try to have a plan of action of what you will do when you receive it.

If you have suspicions about someone a criminal background check could be just what you need to either verify your feelings or let you know that you have an overactive imagination.
