Pierce County promotes GIS education by offering training courses, participating in GIS Day activities, and providing links to other regional resources.

We hold quarterly lead user meetings to discuss GIS news, projects, updates, and training opportunities within the GIS group and within each department/division in attendance. These meetings often include informative presentations and demonstrations of new applications, tools, and concepts. Representatives in a GIS leadership role within a user group are typically in attendance and contribute to discussions.

Pierce County GIS provides training to County staff, CountyView application subscribers, and other jurisdictions. Please contact Greg Lang (253-798-4057, glang@co.pierce.wa.us) to register for one of the following courses:

Introduction to CountyView Web
Participants of this half-day course will learn basic GIS skills and CountyView Web functionality. Topics and hands-on exercises include data display and query, feature location, report generation, and map production. This course is required to access the CountyView Web application.
