Pierce County Information Technology is pleased to offer Guest Wireless service at several Pierce County facilities. Pierce County's Guest Wireless service provides internet access at no charge to visitors. The intended use is for citizens on jury duty, vendors, contractors and visiting attorneys conducting Pierce County-related business.

Access

Pierce County Guest Wireless is a free open network. Users must be near an access point to discover the SSID 'Pierce County Guest.' To connect, read and click 'submit' on the Notice of Liability page. No password or log-in ID is required.

Bandwidth

Guest Wireless bandwidth is metered. High-bandwidth activities may not function well when using Guest Wi-Fi. Users are cautioned to refrain from viewing/accessing high-bandwidth applications, such as streaming video/audio or downloading large files, when using the Pierce County Guest Wireless system.

Guest Wireless Locations

Pierce County Guest Wi-Fi is offered at a number of Pierce County facilities, including, but not limited to the County-City Building, the Environmental Services Building, the Central Maintenance Facility, Planning and Land Services, some park facilities, and others. If you would like to know if the Pierce County facility you will be visiting offers Guest Wireless, please get in touch with your business contact at that facility to inquire.

Security Notice

The Pierce County Guest Wireless internet connection is not protected. There are no measures associated with this service that will protect the equipment of the user. It is strongly recommended that users have up-to-date anti-virus, firewall and privacy protection software running on any device using Pierce County Guest Wireless.

Liability Notice

Pierce County shall not be liable to users of Guest Wireless services for damages of any kind, including lost data, lost privacy, lost profits, lost savings or any other incidental or consequential damages. Users of Pierce County Guest Wireless services shall have no remedy at law or equity against the county in the event that the information provided is inaccurate, incomplete or otherwise defective in any way, nor shall such user have any claim or cause of action against Pierce County in relation to the content of any site or activity of any provider or other third party accessed through Guest Wireless.

Use of the Guest Wireless service affirms that the user accepts all associated risks.
