The Identity Theft and Financial Elder Abuse Unit has prosecuted more than 250 cases this year.

The Identity Theft and Financial Elder Abuse Unit prosecutes financial fraud cases that involve the use of someone's personal or financial information by an unauthorized person. Identity Theft occurs when someone obtains or uses another person's personal or financial information, such as a name, date of birth, social security number, or bank or credit card account number, and uses that information to commit a crime.

With the growing population of elderly citizens in our community, there has been an increase in crimes targeting these vulnerable adults. Vigorously prosecuting crimes against our community's most vulnerable members is a top priority for the Prosecutor's Office.
The unit has a designated Financial Elder Abuse deputy prosecutor, Erika Nohavec, and is supervised by veteran deputy prosecutor Sven Nelson.

Prosecutor Lindquist and deputy prosecutors Nelson and Nohavec are all available to speak to your group about preventing and responding to financial abuse of vulnerable adults. Please call (253) 798-7400 to schedule a presentation.
