The Criminal Division is comprised of attorneys, legal assistants, victim advocates, investigators, process servers and forensic child interviewers who work together to prosecute more than 15,000 misdemeanor and felony cases per year. The major units of the Criminal Division are:

Felony caseloads in Pierce County are high in comparison to other large counties in Washington State reviewing over 10,000 felony cases each year. On average Pierce County felony deputy prosecuting attorneys handle twice as many cases as a King County deputy prosecuting attorneys (110 vs 58), and our felony legal assistants handle three times as many cases as felony legal assistants in King County (196 vs 66). The Criminal Division is renowned state wide for aggressive and effective prosecution, especially of violent offenders and identity thieves.
