Prosecuting Attorney Mark Lindquist is our Pierce County Prosecutor. He was elected in November of 2010, after being appointed to the position in a bipartisan and unanimous vote of the County Council on September 1, 2009. The former Chief Criminal Deputy, Prosecutor Lindquist has been with the office for more than 16 years and has tried nearly every type of case, including murders, rapes, domestic violence, child abuse, drug crimes, property crimes, and the Tacoma Mall shooter. Under Prosecutor Lindquist's leadership, the office has vigorously prosecuted violent street gangs, has held accountable the defendants who assisted cop-killer Maurice Clemmons, and required the Department of Corrections to stop dumping felons from other counties onto our streets. The Special Assault Unit, where Prosecutor Lindquist served for more than five years, is a state model for successful prosecutions of those who victimize our most vulnerable citizens, including children and seniors. The Prosecutor's Office also works with our partners in the community, such as Safe Streets and the Family Justice Center, on intervention and prevention, collaborating to make our neighborhoods safer. Prosecutor Lindquist serves on the Tacoma Community College Foundation Board, is a member of Rotary 8, and is a nationally known author. He lives in Tacoma with his wife Chelsea and their daughter.
