| The Felony Traffic Unit handles Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Assault, Felony DUI, Felony Hit and Run, and Attempting to Elude a Pursuing Police Vehicle cases. The unit consists of Team Chief Tim Jones and DPA Mark Sanchez, who are supported by one legal assistant and two shared victim advocates. They work closely with The Washington State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies to prosecute felony traffic offenses, hold offenders accountable for their crimes, and seek justice for victims. |
Vehicular collisions happen every day throughout Pierce County. Vehicular Assault or Vehicular Homicide charges are considered when impaired or reckless drivers cause substantial bodily harm or the death of another. Despite increased social awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, many DUI drivers have prior offenses that elevate their charges to felony level. These drivers, along with those who attempt to elude pursuing officers and those who flee the scene of an injury accident, are the focus of our efforts.
