Each new regular employee is scheduled for New Employee Orientation, which is a full day and normally occurs within the first two weeks of employment.

Orientation is held at the Organizational Development and Training Office and covers topics such as these:

Employees are provide information on all the benefits Pierce County offers, and forms to enroll in plans of the employee's choice.

Policies and Guidelines
Employees are shown where to find all policy and guideline information on the Human Resources Intranet site, HRweb. Selected policies and guidelines are reviewed in more detail during Orientation, including:

• Chapters from the Administrative Guidelines for the Career Service
• Employee Handbook
• Information Technology (computer) Policies

Training
With supervisor approval, employees may register for classes in a range of course topics. Several courses are required to be taken by certain employees.
