From I-5, take Exit 133 and follow the signs to the City Center exit. Go north on 'A' Street several blocks until you reach South 9th Street. Turn left and go up the 9th Street hill several blocks to Tacoma Avenue South.

The Hess Building is on the left corner at the light at South 9th Street and Tacoma Avenue South. The address is 901 Tacoma Avenue South, Tacoma, Washington.

• Visits of one hour or less - there is angled parking on the street on Tacoma Avenue South in front of the building.
• Longer visits, or if angled street parking is unavailable - There is limited on-street parking up the hill in the nearby area, or you may park in the pay lot adjacent to the County-City Building using the entrance on South 11th Street between Tacoma Avenue South and Yakima Avenue.
• New Employee Orientation - Please allow extra time for parking. A limited number of parking spaces are available at no charge in the Intergovernmental Parking Lot on Court E between South 7th Street and South 9th Street. Access is through the alley (Court E) between Tacoma Avenue South and Fawcett Avenue (see map). Parking spaces 1-59 are designated as 'IG' spaces. Please place the parking authorization enclosed in your hire letter in the front window of your vehicle if you park in the Intergovernmental Parking Lot. Also, there is limited on-street parking in the immediate area, or you may park in the pay lot adjacent to the County-City Building off of 11th Street.
• Pierce County employees attending training - may use the limited parking available in the Intergovernmental Parking Lot, which is the paved surface lot on Court E between South 7th Street and South 9th Street. Access is through the alley (Court E) between Tacoma Avenue South and Fawcett Avenue (see map). Parking spaces 1-59 are designated as IG spaces. A yellow IG tag is required and must be placed in the front window of your vehicle. County employees can request an IG tag from their department.

Civil Service Office entrance is on Tacoma Avenue through the door just to the right of the center door, Suite 102. Look for the Civil Service sign on the door.
