Young Eagles is a program designed to welcome young people into the world of aviation. They feel that the best way to prove the excitement and value of aviation is to experience flight in a first-hand setting.

The Young Eagles' parent organization is the international Experimental Aircraft Association, EAA.

June 12-13, 2010 Model Aircraft Competition

Thun Field hosted the 29th annual Northwest Skyraiders Stunt-A-Thon model aircraft competition. Spectators watched free of charge as pilots performed stunts, precision aerobatics and skilled maneuvers with their aircraft.

Thun Field 65th Anniversary Celebration & Memorial to Founder John Thun Sr.

A celebration celebrating 65 years of general aviation services to the community was held at the Pierce County Thun Field Regional Airport.

Surrounded by Thun family members, Pierce County Councilmember Roger Bush, Public Works Deputy Director Toby Rickman, and members of the FAA and the Executive's office unveiled a memorial honoring Mr. Thun that features a plaque, flagpole, and new picnic area near the administration building.
