What's Happening
Pierce County is improving 456 lineal feet of 176th Street East by replacing the existing Tacoma Rail Overcrossing bridge with a new single-span, precast, pre-stressed concrete girder bridge structure and upgrading the existing bridge approach roadways, and 203 lineal feet of 52nd Avenue East.

Schedule

2011, April: Pierce County has awarded the project to Goodfellow Brothers, Inc.
2011, June: Pierce County hosted the Pre-Construction Meeting.
2011, June 20: Notice To Proceed.
2011, June 22: Beginning of a 4 month road closure. Click here for an informational postcard.
2011, Oct 31: The bridge opened to the traveling public.
2011, Nov: Winter Suspension
2012, Spring: Anticipated Substantial Completion Date.
2012, Spring: Anticipated Physical Completion Date.

The Latest

The project entered winter suspension on Friday, November 18, 2011.
Paving is complete east of the bridge.
Paving west of the bridge is scheduled for May 2012.
The abutments will recieve surface treatment and pigmented sealer starting in April 2012.
All lanes are open to traffic as of January 12, 2012.
