What's Happening
Pierce County will be improving approximately 0.9 miles of 112th Street East from Woodland Avenue East to 86th Avenue East. Improvements designed to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion include:

Expanding to five lanes with a two-way, left-turn lane.
Adding concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
Adding an enclosed storm drain system, as well as stormwater treatment and storage facilities.
Adding a new traffic signal at 78th Avenue East and improving the traffic signal at Fruitland Avenue East.
Installing street lighting.

The Latest
The Utlility Relocation Window began on 10/18/11 and is scheduled to end in the spring of 2012. Minor work continues during the utility window and the contractor is on site working on the following activities:

Coordinating with water and telecommunication utilities for work on Fruitland Av E and 112 St E.

What's the schedule?

April 2011: Pierce County awarded the contract to Northwest Construction, Inc.
July 2011: Pierce County hosted the Pre-Construction Meeting.
Aug 8, 2011: Notice To Proceed.
Nov 2011: 145 Working Day Utility Window begins
Spring 2012: 145 Working Day Utility Window ends
Spring 2012: 30 Day Road Closure
Fall 2012: Anticipated Substantial Completion Date
Spring 2013: Anticipated Physical Completion Date
