Word on the Street: Improvements to Jahn Ave NW/32nd St NW/22nd Ave NW

What's Happening

We're improving approximately 4,400' of roadway along Jahn Ave NW , 32nd St NW and 22nd Ave NW from approximately 1,000' south of 36th St NW to 24th St NW (CRP 5540). Improvements, designed to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety, include:

• Providing 6' paved shoulders to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists.
• Providing stormwater treatment and flow control facilities.

October 2011

• Engineering: We are completing the preliminary engineering for the project. The design of the drainage systems, retaining walls, and other project details will be finalized once the findings of the geotechnical studies are made available in a report.
• Land: We are continuing to assess what additional right-of-way may be needed in order to build the roadway improvements and stormwater facilities.
• Geotechnical: Most of the field work for the geotechnical studies was completed earlier this summer. Some additional information will be gathered so the design of the stormwater facilities can be finalized.

• May 2012: Complete preliminary engineering, construction cost estimate, and preliminary right-of-way plans.
• Beyond May 2012: Right-of-way acquisition, environmental permitting, final engineering, and construction are all dependent on getting additional funding. The schedule for these activities has not been determined.
