What's Happening
We are improving 0.75 miles of Canyon Road East from 172nd Street East to 160th Street East (CRP 5656). Improvements, designed to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion, include:

• Expanding to six lanes with paved shoulders.
• Adding raised medians with designated left/u-turn lanes at select locations.
• Adding concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
• Adding an enclosed storm drain system as well as stormwater treatment and storage facilities.
• Modifying traffic signals at Military Road East and 160th Street East.
• Adding street lighting.
  

July 2009

• Engineering: Design continues on the lighting, traffic signals, enclosed storm drain system, and stormwater treatment and storage facilities. Utility coordination is ongoing. We are also finalizing details for walls and guardrails.
• Land: We are in the process of acquiring property and easements. A majority of the needed right-of-way has been secured.

• November 2006 to May 2010: Finalize permits, environmental documents, plans, and estimates.
• January 2007 to January 2010 : Acquire needed property and easements.
• Construction during 2010 to 2012 : Tentative construction dates pending funding.
