What's Happening
We're beginning design of improvements at the Sumner-Tapps Highway East/South Tapps Drive East intersection. Improvements include:

• Adding left turn lanes
• Rebuilding the existing signal system.
• Widening the existing roadway.
• Installing storm drainage piping and constructing storm water treatment facilities.

July 2011

• Engineering: We are in the Preliminary Engineering Phase of the project, which includes determining the project limits, lane widths, and configuration.
• Land: Parcel maps and property owner lists are being prepared.
• Survey: A survey, identifying existing roadway and right-of-way limits, is complete.

• September 2010 to October 2011: Preliminary design.
• Beyond October 2011: Final design, right-of-way acquisition, environmental permitting, and construction are all dependent on getting additional funding. The schedule for these activities has not been determined.
