Word on the Street: Improvements to Canyon Road East (224th Street East to 200th Street East)

What's Happening
We're improving 1.70 miles of Canyon Road East from 224th Street East to 200th Street East (CRP 5764 - formerly CRP 5123). Improvements, designed to increase transportation connectivity, include:

• Extending Canyon Road East to connect between 224th Street East and 200th Street East.
• Providing an interim three lanes of the future five lane roadway.
• Constructing sidewalks and paved shoulders for pedestrians and bicyclists.
• Providing signals at 224th Street East and 208th Street East.
• Realigning the intersection of Canyon Road East & 200th Street East to the north and provide a new traffic signal at the intersection.
• Adding an enclosed storm drain system as well as stormwater treatment and storage facilities.

January 2012

• Engineering: We are trying to wrap up the preliminary engineering phase for the project. We are finalizing details regarding the proposed drainage systems, stormwater ponds, retaining walls, and other traffic improvements.
• Land: We are continuing to assess what additional right-of-way may be needed in order to build the interim roadway improvements.

• January 2008 to July 2012: Assessing project needs.
• July 2012: Complete preliminary engineering, construction cost estimate, and preliminary right-of-way plans.
• To Be Determined: Right-of-way acquisition, final engineering, and construction.
