What's Happening
We're improving 1.70 miles of Canyon Road East from 224th Street East to 200th Street East (CRP 5764). Improvements, designed to increase transportation connectivity, include:

  • Extending Canyon Road East to connect between 224th Street East and 200th Street East.
  • Providing an interim three lanes of the future five lane roadway.
  • Constructing sidewalks and paved shoulders for pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Providing signals at 224th Street East and 208th Street East.
  • Realigning the intersection of Canyon Road East & 200th Street East to the north.

Note: The ''Future'' roadway section is not currently funded and the time for implementation is yet to be determined.

October 2009

  • Engineering: We are in the Preliminary Engineering Phase of the project. Roadway alignments are finalized. Work will continue on the design of storm water conveyance systems, retaining walls and signal systems.
  • Land: The goal is to build as many of the interim improvements, as possible, within the existing right-of-way. We are assessing where additional right-of-way may be needed.
  • Survey: Identification of existing right-of-way limits is complete. Additional topography may be needed in specific areas to finalize the design.
  • Geotechnical: Geotechnical investigations have been performed to help design the project retaining walls, stormwater facilities, pavement design, and traffic configuration.
  • Environmental: Investigating potential wetland mitigation sites.

  • January 2008 to June 2010: Complete Preliminary Engineering design plans, initiate environmental documentation.
  • September 2007 to December 2010: Research, analyze, and acquire wetland mitigation site.
  • To Be Determined: Complete construction plans, specifications, estimates, and construction.
