Our Mission
To provide customers with high quality, cost-effective sanitary sewer services in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal permit requirements.
What We Do
The Sewer Utility provides wastewater management, collection, and treatment services to large urban areas of Pierce County via a network of underground pipes, pump stations, manholes and the Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. Sewer Service Area
We do not receive assistance from the Pierce County general fund - the Utility is supported solely by the rate payers.
Our History
Pierce County built its first sewer system in 1981 and created Utility Local Improvement Districts (ULIDs) to protect public health and groundwater resources. Initial funding came from a combination of federal, state, and local sources.
Since then, the county has gradually expanded the sewer system in response to urban growth.
Present and Future
We provide services that meet our customers' needs and expectations through effective management of our infrastructure and investments.
We plan for the future by replacing aging sewer system components, upgrading to new technology and expanding to meet growth.
Pierce County strives to deliver cost-effective, environmentally sound sewer services to all rate payers.
