A disaster debris management plan guides the process of debris removal after a disaster, large or small. A useful and effective plan allows the safe removal and disposal of debris and helps the region to return to a normal way of life as soon as possible. The Plan will focus on the government agencies and departments necessary for debris management planning and recovery. The final plan will provide Pierce County with the tools to manage the debris from a major event. Project Communication Plan Plan Outline

Goals for the Final Plan Address different levels and types of emergencies Recommend strategies to segregate waste types Suggest recycling strategies for appropriate waste streams Promote the establishment of contracts and agreements before the emergency occurs Establish debris removal priorities Identify debris transfer, staging, and final disposal options Plan for reimbursement from FEMA and other sources for disaster response and recovery Identify available equipment and resources

The project team assists the project manager with the research, development, and creation of the Plan.
