Chief Rob Masko is currently assigned as the Bureau Chief of Corrections. He has been employed in law enforcement for 30 years, spending two years with the Fircrest Police Department and the last 28 years with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. His past assignments at the Sheriff's Department include Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division; Police Chief for the City of University Place; Lieutenant of Major Crimes Investigations Unit and Supervisor of the Officer Involved Traumatic Incident Team; Internal Affairs Lieutenant and Mobile Field Force Commander; Police Chief for the City of Lakewood; Lieutenant of Lakewood Criminal Investigations Division and SWAT Team Commander; East Patrol Lieutenant; Detective Sergeant in the Property Crimes Unit, Special Assault Unit, and Supervisor of the Juvenile Investigations Unit; Juvenile Investigator; and Patrol Deputy.
Chief Masko has earned numerous awards including the Pierce County Sheriff's Department Medal of Merit and Medal of Valor, Pierce County Prosecutor's Office Detective of the Year, and Safe Streets Outstanding Officer Award.
Chief Masko graduated Suma Cum Laude from Washington State University with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology, and graduated from the FBI National Academy. Chief Masko has earned additional certifications in Supervision, Management and Executive Leadership.
Chief Masko has served on numerous boards and community groups, including Law Enforcement Youth Camp, Crisis Triage Center Board, Tacoma-Pierce County Coalition of Child Sexual Abuse, Crime Free Multi- Housing Program, Tacoma Community College Advisory Board Member, Pierce County Sheriff and Chiefs Association Member, University Place Public Safety Committee Member, Pierce County Terrorism Early Warning/Response Task force, Juvenile Detention Reform Project, Pierce County Chaplaincy Executive Board Member, Fircrest City Council, Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, and the TAPCO Credit Union Executive Board; Chief Masko has also coached numerous youth baseball, basketball, and soccer teams.
