About our Healthy Kids/Green Parenting Area: To help keep kids healthy, there will be FREE LEAD TESTING at the fair. The Health Department's Lead Safe Program will be offering free blood lead level testing for children and pregnant and nursing moms. Even low levels of lead exposure can cause developmental delays and a permanent loss of IQ points. A blood lead level test is the best way to check for lead exposure as symptoms can be hard to spot. Washington Toxics Coalition will be on hand to test toys for lead and other harmful chemicals, will share other resources with parents to help ensure that children are playing with safe toys. If you have toys you are concerned about, bring them along to the Fair to be tested for free.
For more information on the Healthy Kids & Green Parenting area, contact Chris Matter-Rinehart at 253-798-4459.
