What is Pierce County Responds?
Pierce County Responds is the place to turn for handling problems caused by illegal dumping of waste, the storage of nuisance (junk) vehicles, and violations of Pierce County's zoning and development regulations. Coordinated by the Pierce County Department of Public Works and Utilities, Pierce County Responds:
- receives and investigates complaints
- recommends cases for prosecution
- provides technical assistance to property owners; and
- organizes community-based solutions.
Partner agencies include the Pierce County Planning and Land Services Department, the Pierce County Sheriff, the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney, and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.

Pierce County Responds serves as the central clearinghouse for reporting violations of Pierce County's zoning and development regulations, nuisance (junk) and abandoned vehicle laws, and solid waste littering and dumping laws.
