Project Overview

Overview:

This project will provide an infiltration area for a seasonal stream that originates south of 192nd St E and flows north along the west side of 14th Ave E. As the stream travels, a significant portion of its volume infiltrates. During years with high rainfall, the stream continues further north and terminates in the northwest corner of the Horseman's property at 176th St E. This project will also preserve this site for the regional infiltration for the area.

The Public Works and Utilities (PW&U) Transportation Division is also in the design process for improvements to the 176th St E corridor. The Tacoma Horseman's property was identified as a possible site for stormwater from the 176th St E improvements. The Surface Water Management and the PW&U Transportation Division, in an effort to minimize impacts to the Horseman's property, have worked together on the design, property acquisition, and mitigation. This project fulfills the needs of both divisions.
