Knowing the status of the County's water quality, ground water levels, stream flows and biology (such as aquatic insect populations) helps the County make good decisions on improving the health of watersheds. Additionally, Pierce County is legally required to monitor for water quality under both federal and state laws. Water Quality & Watershed Services staff monitor and combine surface water quality, ground water levels, stream flows and biological indicators, to help learn about the threats to watersheds and ways we can improve watershed health.
