Male and female skaters will compete separately in technical events only. The age groups are determined by the number of entries in each event.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The schedule of events will be sent to each participating rink, not to the individual skaters. Please check with your skating director or coach after April 1, 2011 for your competition times. We will post the schedules here as soon as they become available.

REGISTRATION

All skaters are to register one hour prior to the scheduled event. If the competition is running ahead of schedule, an event may begin earlier than its schedule time.


The competition will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines contained in the most recent edition of Team Competition Standards and Test Standards.

ENTRIES

The Team Coach from each rink should collect the fully completed entry forms accompanied by check or money order in the appropriate amount and mail or turn in to:

All entries must be postmarked no later than March 4, 2011. Make checks payable to Sprinker Recreation Center. There will be no refunds.

Entries received after March 4, 2011 will be considered late and subject to a late fee.

ACCOUNTING REVIEW REQUEST

Accounting Review Requests must be made in writing and submitted by an ISI Professional Member to the Competition Director or the Chief Referee no later than one hour after the results have been posted.

All requests must include $50 cash which will be refunded should the review be upheld. Requests concerning 'Judgments' will not be considered. The Chief Referee's decision will be final!!


VERIFICATION

The Team Coach or Skating Director must sign each form to verify that the information contained on the entry form is true and correct. The information on the entry form must be accurate and complete. Inaccurate and/or incomplete forms will be returned.

There will be a $25 fee for any changes made to your original entry form. All participants will be verified with the ISI National Office for membership and tests compliancy.

ELIGIBILITY

All skaters entering the competition must be individual members of and registered with the I.S.I. All entrants must compete in the highest test level they have passed and registered with the I.S.I. on or before March 1, 2011.

US Figure Skating participants who have competed at or above the novice level (individual or synchronized) at any US Figure Skating National Championships within the last two years must indicate such on their entry form.

US Figure Skating test passed may compete no lower than:

  • Pre-Preliminary - Freestyle 3 / Open Bronze
  • Preliminary - Freestyle 4 / Open Silver
  • Pre-Juvenile - Freestyle 4 / Open Silver
  • Juvenile - Freestyle 5 / Open Gold
  • Intermediate - Freestyle 6 / Open Gold
  • Novice - Freestyle 7 / Open Platinum
  • Junior - Freestyle 8 / Open Platinum
  • Senior - Freestyle 8 / Open Platinum


A practice schedule will be mailed to each rink by April 1, 2011.

AWARDS

Medals will be awarded to the 1st through 5th place winners in each event. Awards will be presented upon the posting of each individual event. A participation award will be presented to all those not placing in the top 5.

TEAM POINTS

Team Points raised for all ISI competitions for these Group events: Pattern, Production, Ensemble, Synchronized Teams, Kaleidoskate, and Team Compulsories.

Team placement points:

  • 1st Place - 25 points
  • 2nd Place - 20 points
  • 3rd Place - 15 points
  • 4th Place - 10 points
  • 5th Place - 5 points

Individual points will be awarded to the skater's represented team as '1' participation point for each individual event plus placement points:

  • 1st Place - 5 points
  • 2nd Place - 4 points
  • 3rd Place - 3 points
  • 4th Place - 2 points
  • 5th Place - 1 points

PICTURES AND VIDEO

A photographer will be taking pictures of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place winners. Photos will be available to purchase at that time only. Videos will also be available to purchase the day of competition only.


MUSIC

CDs are preferred and must be labeled with the skater's name, rink name, division, and age. Music must be handed in at the registration desk no later than one hour prior to the scheduled program event.

No more than one program on a CD. Music may be picked up at the registration desk one hour after the scheduled event. Music for Dance & Interpretive will be provided by the host rink.

10 SECOND LEEWAY

The 10 second leeway over the prescribed time also applies to Freestyle, Couple, Footwork, Synchronized and Team Compulsories. This means that judging will stop at 10 seconds over the prescribed time. If the skater skates 11 to 14 seconds over the prescribed time, he/she will be given the score of 5.0. Any required maneuver done past the 10 seconds leeway will receive a zero. There is no penalty for skating under the prescribed time.

SKATERS WARM-UPS

There will be a short warm-up period before each event.


CREATIVE FIGURES 1-10 (New Event)

Skaters use their imaginations to draw pictures on the ice (i.e. spell out their names and create their own figures.) Skaters must not exceed the prescribed time limit, and the figure may not exceed the size of a regular two circle figure.

FIGURE 1-10 (New Event)

The regular figures are based on the original school figure eights. Skaters perform required figure patterns 3 times on each foot. Judging is based on the size and shape of the circles, edges, flow and pattern. See selected figures on Solo Compulsories Form (pdf).

OPEN FREESTYLE (New Event)

Skaters must have passed the traditional ISI Freestyle 1-10 tests(s) or the Open Freestyle test(s) to compete in their highest tested level. The Open Freestyle events are divided in to four levels - Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Refer to the 2010 ISI Handbook page 225 for further eligibility & rule requirements.

RHYTHMIC SKATING 1-10 BALL/HOOP/RIBBON (New Event)

Rhythmic skating events are open to all freestyle level skaters. Skaters may enter one or more events. If a skater enters two or more Rhythmic events, they must have a different program and different prop for each program routine. Levels and gender may be combined based on the level categories listed below, but each prop (i.e. ball, hoop, ribbon) must be in a separate event group.

FS 6-10/Gold/Platinum Any maneuvers

TOT & PRE ALPHA EVENTS

Tot 1-4 skaters are not permitted or required to perform an additional maneuver from a higher test level. Pre- Alpha skaters must perform one additional maneuver from Freestyle 1.

ICE DANCING

Two dances will be selected. The combined scores from both dances will determine the placement. See selected dances on Solo Compulsories Form (pdf).

STROKING - ALPHA THRU DELTA

Skaters will perform forward stroking and forward crossovers in both directions to music of different tempos selected by the host committee.

STROKING - FREESTYLE 1 THRU 4

Skaters will perform the above in addition to backward stroking with back crossovers in both directions.

JUMP AND SPIN TEAM (2 person teams)

This event is open to any level ISI skater. Competition is divided into 4 levels, with the required maneuvers listed below. Skaters perform the maneuvers without music. If partners are of different skill levels, then they will compete in the level of the higher partner.

COSTUMES AND PROPS

Elaborate costumes and props are encouraged to help skaters with the act. Props are limited to those that the skater can hand carry onto the ice themselves (in one trip). The following props will not be allowed:

  • wet mops with bucket of water
  • flame oriented props
  • anything that could alter the surface of the ice
  • live props
  • off ice participation during the number
  • assistance in setting up the prop


  • Rule In Effect: 30 seconds to set up a prop and 30 seconds to remove a prop.
  • Rink Size: 200' x 85'
  • Arena Door Opening: 30'
