The Gross Out Olympics is an event all kids can participate in. Get ready for extreme Gross Out challenges - Bologna Toss, Human Cheese Puff, Lemon Slurp, and many more disgusting events. Every Olympian earns a gold medal in these games.

Wear bathing suits or clothes that can get dirty. There will be a sprinkler on hand for the Olympians to run through and clean off between events.

Pierce County's `Minute to Win It` Games

Participate in Pierce County's version of the popular television show 'Minute to Win It.' We will put our own Pierce County Parks and Recreation spin on your favorite games.

For those who have not seen the show, the games we will play last a minute. Games include puzzles, buildings, and silly challenges.

The event is for children and families of all abilities. Come ready to play in comfortable clothes to test your skills against other kids and families!

Art for Kids Camp

This multi-media art program is oriented and designed to enhance a child's enjoyment of art and creative expression. Youths are provided with an opportunity to explore their creativity through a variety of materials.

Drawing and painting will be explored with all supplies included. The media includes pen and ink, charcoal, acrylic, and soft and oil pastels. Campers should bring a snack and beverage each day to class.

2011 DANCE CAMPS

A Chance to Dance Camp - Beginner

This week long camp will include an introduction to ballet, jazz, modern/creative dance, and hip-hop. This is a great way for beginners to sample some different styles and develop their technique! Students will have fun learning routines and even experimenting with their own choreography.

Students must wear dance or comfortable clothing, such as leotard, tank top, dance pants, sweat pants, etc. Bare feet, socks or dance shoes are acceptable. And, be sure to bring a water bottle.

* This program provides an opportunity to experience dance in a fun a specialized dance environment. Ms. Englebright is a Dance Education Specialist with a Mater's Degree in Education and BA in Dance and English Literature.

2011 Guitar Camp

This week long camp will provide instruction in basic music theory and an introduction to playing the guitar. Learn rhythms, the music alphabet. Creativity will be encouraged by writing your own songs. We will cover basic chords for songs we can sing together as well as note reading and other guitar techniques.

Lots of Fun Day Camp

For children and young adults with disabilities. This is a 4 week summer camp, weekdays. The camp activities will include swimming, field trips, cooperative games, special visitors, creative arts, sports activities, singing, and social activities.

  • For Ages 6-21
  • Fee: $220 (4 wks) includes camp t-shirt and certificate
  • Camp Location: Discovery Primary School, 1205 - 19th Ave, Milton, WA

  • The program is staffed with school teachers and college students under the supervision of a Special Education Teacher. The activities change daily and are designed to promote sharing, cooperation, friendship, sportsmanship and fun.
  • A full time assistant (age 16 or older) must be provided for campers NOT toilet trained, ambulatory, or who pose a safety threat to self or others.
  • Transportation is the responsibility of the parents/care givers. for assistance through Pierce Transit, call 253-581-8100.

Challenger British Soccer 2011 Camps

Each camp includes individual footwork exercises, parks and small group practices, small sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. With each camp, campers will receive a Challenger soccer ball and t-shirt.

Colleen Hacker Success Soccer Camp Colleen Hacker a member of the coaching staff of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, a consultant for Wom'ens professional soccer, and has served on the coaching staff of the United States Women's National Soccer Team. Coach Hacker will share with the participants her philosophy, technical skills, and experience as a collegiate coach and member of Team USA, World Cup and Olympic coaching staff.

The camp is staffed by Collen Hacker and members of the three-time NAIA National Champion PLU Women's Soccer Team, high school coaches, and players from PLU Men's Soccer teams, in cooperation with Pierce County Parks. Players will be divided into age groups/skills and taught soccer skills/tactics through game related drills and actual game experiences.

Rock Climbing Camps

Edgeworks Climbing is proud to offer the following climbing camps. No experience is necessary. Two certified instructors, equipment, and rock climbing shoes are provided.

Learn to Rock Climb

We`re headed to Spanaway`s Spire Rock for an hour and a half lesson on the in`s and out`s of rock climbing. Once we have the basics and not so basics down we are off to the great outdoors to get some real climbing experience near Exit 38. Please bring a sack lunch and or money for food and snacks. Additional waiver required.

Little Monkeys

Your climber will learn basic climbing techniques in this ongoing monthly program designed to offer a fun and safe experience for ages 3+. The Little Monkeys Program offers an active curriculum taught by our experienced, professional staff in a safe indoor
setting with high instructor to climber ratios. Our program builds a foundation for strong, fit, motivated, goal oriented kids and the climbing is just plain fun.
