Fair Play In Community Sports Policy


Open Badminton

Hosted by the Tacoma Badminton Club, badminton players can play on Mondays from 7:30-10:00 p.m. in the Lakewood Community Center. The fee is only $4.00 per person. Rackets are available as well as instruction.

Adults and children of all skill levels are welcome to participate. Call (253)272-9883 for additional information.

Open Pickleball

Pickleball players of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the drop-in program held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at the Lakewood Community Center from 7:30-10:00am.

Up to six courts are available for singles and doubles play for a nominal fee $3 per day. Annual participants cards may also be purchased for $100 which provides unlimited play throughout the year. Drop by with your paddle in hand ready to play.

Adult Golf Lessons

Professional golf instruction is available for adults in both individual and group settings at Lake Spanaway Golf Course. Bob Emmerson and Sterling Ratcliff III will teach you the skills
necessary to play and enjoy the game of golf.

Whether you are a beginner looking to take up the game or an advanced player looking to add to your shot repertoire, the professional staff at Lake Spanaway is eager and willing to help.

Individual Lessons:

Golf Private/Group Lessons at Lake Spanaway and Ft. Steilacoom Golf Courses

An extensive selection of private and group lessons for all ages. in individual or group settings at both Lake Spanaway Golf Course and Fort Steilacoom Golf Course. Gift certificates for lessons are also available for your favorite golfer.

All lesson fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable. All private and group lessons must be scheduled in advance.

Spring/Summer Slowpitch

Men's, Women's, Co-Ed, Church, and Half Century leagues are available. Games are played at Sprinker Recreation Center and Heritage Recreation Center.

  • Register your team March 1-April 2, 2012. All fees due at time of registration.
    Register March 1-9 and receive a $30.00 discount off league fees.

    Teams can register at the Parks Department office in Lakewood, Monday -Friday between 8:00 am-5:00 pm. League fees include a 1/2 dozen softballs and USSSA team registration ($35/team).


    League entry deadline is April 2, 2012 if there is still room available. Print league application from the forms section below.

  • Pre-season 2012 Tournament is $70*/team. 3 game guarantee, played specific nights March 20-April 24. Umpire fees of $12/game in cash on the field to the umpire. Deadline for Pre-season entry is March 9, 2012.

*Fee also includes Washington State mandated sales tax, effective Oct. 1, 2011.

Fall League

Men's, Women's, and Co-Rec leagues are available. League play begins the first week of August and will last approximately 6 weeks. All games are played at Sprinker Recreation Center and Heritage Recreation Center. Both single games and doubleheaders will be used.

  • League includes 12 games; limited to the first 80 teams
  • Fall league team fees:
    • $580/team - includes official fees and six softballs
    • $35 USSSA registration fee. Required for teams not currently registered with USSSA.
  • Register your team June 20-July 15, 2011. All fees due at time of registration.
    • Register June 20-July 5 to receive a $30.00 discount off league fees.
    • Teams can register at the Parks Department office in Lakewood, Monday -Friday between 8:00 am-5:00 pm. or Register on-line.

  • League entry deadline is July 15, 2011 if there is still room available.
  • Coaches meeting is July 26, 2011
    • 6:00-6:30p.m. for Men's Teams- Lakewood Community Center
    • 6:30-7:00pm for Women and Coed Teams - Lakewood Community Center
    • Team rosters due at the coaches meeting.

Alpine West Ski and Snowboard School

Skiing/Snowboarding at Snoqualmie Summit

  • 6 week program January-February:
    • Jan. 7-Feb.11, 2012 - Saturday Program
    • Jan. 8-Feb. 12, 2012 - Sunday Program
  • Fees:
    • $150 - lessons only
    • $258 - transportation and lessons
    • $240 - transportation only
    • Purchase your own ski lift and equipment
  • For youths and adults:
    • Ages 4-9 with adult supervision
    • Ages 10 and older can ride the bus without adult supervision.

Lessons:

  • Lessons provided by Alpine West Ski & Snowboard School.
  • Lesson times are scheduled from 10:30 am-12:30 pm
  • Packages are available with and without transportation.
  • Fees do not include lift tickets or rental equipment.
  • Rental equipment should be rented prior to coming to the mountain.

  • Register through the Meridian Habitat Park, 253-841-8515.

In partnership with the City of University Place and Disc Northwest, Pierce County Parks and Recreation is excited to offer Coed Ultimate Frisbee.

Two sessions of Ultimate Frisbee are available at Cirque Park. Sign up as an individual or request
a buddy to be drafted onto teams. Individuals from beginning to veteran are welcome to drop by and talk to ultimate players. This is your opportunity to learn the basics through participation and hands on instruction from experienced players.

  • For: Ages 18 and up
  • Fee: $30/person per session (Washington State mandated sales tax included)
