Faith Homes, a social service agency founded in 1959, offers several unique programs. The Jump Start Transitional Housing Program serves homeless, pregnant and parenting young women, ages 16-21, and single women, ages 18-25.

Faith Homes began working with homeless young women in 1991 when it opened the first Jump Start site for three clients in East Tacoma. Since then, Jump Start has expanded to a service capacity of 24 young women in the transitional housing program, and 6 more in rental assistance programs.

Jump start has 5 housing sites throughout Pierce County. Program participants live roommate-style in either apartments or houses, and are responsible for paying 30% of their income toward housing expenses. House advisors live at each site to ensure that each client's needs are met. Participants receive case management, parenting services, and access to medical care, education, and employment training. The focus of the program is to help homeless young women learn skills that will help them be independent and successful.
