The Pierce County Aging & Disability Resource Center is our front door for meeting the needs of older adults, individuals with disabilities, families, caregivers, and friends. Pierce County Aging and Long Term Care will hold a public hearing on the update to the 4-year 2008-2011 Area Plan on Tuesday, September 8 at 10 a.m. in the Human Services Boardroom, 3580 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma.

The plan is a tool that responds to needs of older adults and individuals with long term disabilities in the community by:

• Focusing on priority/target populations;
• Meeting basic needs for food, shelter, physical/emotional health, or assistance with normal daily tasks;
• Supporting the ability to remain at home as long as possible;
• Filling service gaps in the community;
• And accomplishing the Area Plan Goals and Objectives.

Aging & Long Term Care Advisory Board
The ALTC Advisory Board is made up of 25 members of the community who volunteer their time and efforts. Their role is to plan and oversee long term care services in Pierce County. The Board meets the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. All meeting are open to the public. Board members also participate in additional committee work.
