Bar News Information Commissioner Diana Kiesel Joins Superior Court Commissioner Kiesel Superior Court welcomes our new Commissioner Diana Kiesel at her swearing in ceremony Friday, November 6, 2009. Commissioner Kiesel replaces Commissioner James Marshall who retired in July. She received her JD from the University of Puget Sound School of Law and a B.A. from UPS. She has over 20 years pro tem commissioner experience, has worked as a mediator since 1991 and as a guardian ad litem since 1986-96. Her practice has focused on family law and guardianship matters. Ms. Kiesel brings with her a very strong background in matters handled by court commissioners. Please join the court in welcoming her. Superior Court Staff Honored Camille Wiggins was presented with a 35 year award at the Employee Recognition banquet October 27, 2009. Camille worked for Budget & Finance for several years before moving to Superior Court some years ago, where she works today as the Fiscal Administrator. Judge Stephanie Arend Judge Arend Presents at NALS Seminar Working Copy Pilot Program Superior Court Judge Lisa Worswick and Judge Linda Lee are participating in a LINX pilot project to allow the filing party to submit their working copies as part of the e-file process. While this pilot project is running, the option to electronically deliver working copies will appear for matters set before Judge Lee and Judge Worswick only. |

Judge Chushcoff New announcements Federal Grant to fund Veteran's Drug Court details Veteran's Drug Court Case Coordinator position now open Application See Jim Cathcart's November, 2009 Bar News article for more project details. Superior Court Retreat The Court, ever mindful of the tight budget, held its minimal cost 2009 retreat at Pilgrim Firs Conference Center in mid October. The retreat was devoted to a review of the Family Court, its progress, strategic plan and statistics; the Criminal Case Backlog reduction efforts including the Special Assault Unit Project; civil/criminal case rotation and panel assignments; statistics as they pertained globally to work in Superior Court; the heavy Court Commissioners' workload and the many achievements in 2009. Juvenile Court reported on their issues and difficulties with the requested 2010 budget reductions. Presiding Judge Chushcoff ended the retreat with a review of the issues he has encountered this past year.
