Specialized Recreation is designed to provide recreation and leisure opportunities for individuals of all abilities and their families. There is no membership fee. Pre-registration is required.

Create beautiful art while having a fun party! Judy, our talented art instructor, will guide you step-by-step while you make a masterpiece that you can hang in your own home. Pizza & PJ's Party

Time to get into your comfiest pajamas, grab a pillow, and come chill with your Companionship friends. We'll spend the evening making pizzas, sampling treats from our popcorn bar, and watching movies (rated G to PG-13) This activity is co-ed, so invite all your friends!

Seattle's International District

Meridian Habitat Park - Puyallup (map) 

Are you ready for an adventure with an international flair? Experience Seattle's International District with friends! We'll travel to Angle Lake in our bus, then catch the Link Light Rail to the International District. While we're there, we'll see the sites, have some lunch, and maybe take in a shop or two. This will be an adventure full of walking, so be prepared. Don't forget to bring a little spending money if you'd like to bring home a souvenir. This activity is co-ed, so invite all your friends!

Companionship What’s Cookin’?

Learn basic kitchen safety, food preparation skills, and hygiene while making easy meals each week. Cooks will learn to prepare a simple meal that can be prepared at home as well. Week #1 will focus on breakfast, week #2 will focus on lunch, and week #3 will focus on supper.

NEW - Teen & Young Adult Social Activities

If your weekends are dull, check out these fun activities! Teen & Young Adult Social Activities are designed for individuals 16 years and older to participate in fun outings with friends. Participants will have the opportunity to practice socialization, decision making, following directions, and getting along with a group. Staff ratio will be 1:4-6. Registration fees cover transportation in our shiny, new, wheelchair accessible bus, trip management, tickets/entrance fees, and food when designated.

We’re checking out one of Tacoma’s hottest new spots – Catffeinated! We’ll enjoy some coffee or tea and frolic with the kitties in a special Cat Lounge

Ice Bumper Cars

Are you curious about Ice Bumper Cars, the cool new trend that’s hit Pierce County Parks? This is your chance to check it out! We’ll meet at Lakewood Community Center, then head to Sprinker Recreation Center for some time on the ice in the new ice bumper cars. Then we’ll round out our day with an ice cream treat back at the community center.

KING Mini Golf & Five Guys

We’re hitting the (mini) greens! Gather your friends and join in the fun of a round of wheelchair accessible mini-golf at KING Mini Golf. Following our golf fun, we’ll head over to Five Guys for a burger and soda. Yum!

Bowling at Ocean5

We’re packing up and heading across the Narrows Bridge to Gig Harbor for some fun Duckpin Bowling at Ocean5. Duckpin bowling is a variation of bowling that uses smaller, lighter-weight balls without holes in them, and gives each bowler three turns per frame.
