Pierce County Parks is designing a bicycle and pedestrian pathway to connect Parkland families to their schools and parks! The path will connect Parkland neighborhoods to four public schools, three County Parks, and the Pacific Lutheran University Campus.

This community connector will provide an alternate north south route to Pacific Avenue in a community with very few trails, sidewalks, or bike lanes.  The proposed route will follow 8th Avenue South from 129th Street South to Spanaway Regional Park.

The proposed trail will connect the following schools and parks:

  • Washington High School
  • Keithley Middle School
  • Gates Alternative High School
  • Brookdale Elementary School
  • Pacific Lutheran University (PLU)
  • Parkland Prairie
  • Gonyea Playfield
  • Spanaway Regional Park (Sprinker Recreation Center, Bresemann Forest, and Spanaway Park)

Public outreach for this project will begin in the fall of 2019.
