Variance(s): Tacoma Screw Products
Applicant: Tacoma Screw Products
Planner: Ty Booth, email@example.com
Request: The Applicant requests, and/or is likely to request, both Sign and Zoning Code Variances for the following:
• 150 ft. tall flagpole/flag that exceeds Zoning Code height/setback requirements (and possibly some matters involving the Sign Code);
• Two signs, attached to the building, each measuring 52 ft. long by 11 ft. tall. These signs exceed or might exceed Sign Code requirements for the following: type of sign, direction facing toward SR16 (area of special control for signage), size, items of information, height, and illumination. Note, the Sign Code is ambiguous regarding some of these matters and, therefore, are mentioned in this notice just in case.
The flagpole/flag and signs would be accessory to a recently constructed 48-ft. tall, 98,594 sq. ft. fulfillment center with retail store attached, on a 9.17-acre parcel. The site is in the Gig Harbor Peninsula Community Plan area and Rural 10 (R10) zone classification; however, the use of the site is vested to the Rural Activity Center (RAC) zoning in effect when the parcel was created in December 1995. The project is located at 2002 36th St. NW (southwest corner of the intersection of SR 16/36th St. NW), just outside the City of Gig Harbor, in Council District #7.
